All of year5/6 have today been taking part in the WW1 Junior Chef Workshop, a part of the prize won by Poppy Robinson for her WW1 remembrance poster design.
All of the pupils have been getting hands on with their ingredients and made their very own war cake. Learning lots of things and gaining new skills.
What did you enjoy about the workshop? What have you learnt? What new skills have you gained?
I really enjoyed baking the war cake today because we got to take it home with us and give it to our family or friends or keep it our selfs. My favourite part today was when I cracked the egg.
Today my class did the junior workshop which we got to learn about WW1 food and how it was vital. In the workshop we got to make our own war cakes, we learnt different skills and answered questions from the master chef . I really enjoyed the workshop and hope to do it in the future.
I have enjoyed learning about the different fruits and vegetables and the war . I have learnt the different fruits in Spanish .
Today we baked a cake it was called a war cake we did it with junior cheif workshop it was so fun i cracked the egg and it went right. We have are cakes in are class sadly ive got a blocked nose so i cant smell it.
I have enjoyed learning different fruit and vegetables .I have learnt how to make WW1 cakes with fruit and vegetables. I have learnt different fruit languages in Spanish.
I liked stirring the mixture because It was stiff and It got me stronger also I liked it when we had to put all of our mixture into our little pots. I have learnt the is a cord that connects to the egg.
We have deafenataly enjoyed the baking and learning lots of new things. To us it felt like we were on master chef.
I have learnt about what a egg has inside it and what kind of herbs salsa has and a white sores. I ‘ve gained a skill that you have to use poppy seeds for a war cake. I enjoyed when I cot messy and when I got to taste the sores.
I have learnt that fruits can come in different shapes and sizes also in ww1 they had to drink, I think one litre or two litres. One of the skills I learnt were that before you crack an egg you could maybe shake it and that would cut the chalaza cord of the egg. I enjoyed doing the cooking and I also thought it were good when you got a vegetable when you got a question right.
I really enjoyed doing the chef baking because I got to learn new things about world war 1 food down the trenches . I tried a bit of mine I think it was nice and a bit horrible at the same time.
