Y6 have taken part in the Victorian trial of Isabella Makin – an 11 year old girl accused of theft in 1830.
Did you have a role? What was the outcome?
I really enjoyed doing the court case and learning about criminal and civil court Isabella was found guilty and took her to reform school
I didn’t have a role in the trial. The outcome was that Isabella Makin was found guilty of theft and was sentenced to go to reform school.
I really enjoyed the court room and I also enjoyed that we got to learn about the court room differences.
I really enjoyed going to galleries of justice in Nottingham. I thought the best part about it was where we got locked in the cell and we found out what it was like to be in prison in the olden days. I also really enjoyed going in the dark cell, I also liked finding out what it would be like in Victorian CSI, and finding the murder victim and who possibly could have been the suspects.
I really enjoyed the justice museum because I learnt a lot. My favourite bit was the role play bit.
I didn’t have a role but I liked experiencing Isabella macking and I loved the trip but my best bit was doing the treasure hunt in the afternoon.
I really enjoyed going to the galleries of Jusitce, I had a role and it was Isabella’s mother and I was backing up Isabella saying that she was with her younger siblings all the time.
I really enjoyed the trip but I was a bit worried about the dungeons
I was the pulpic and I thought everyone did a very good job well done !!
I really enjoyed when we went to court ( even though I was guilty) . It was fun because we all had different roles to play and we all had to act them out differently. The Gallery of Justice was a great 👍🏻 experience to find out about the differences between courts . Also it interesting to find out about prison in the Victorian times .
I was an eye witness and I had to stand up in court and tell everyone what I saw Isabella doing. I enjoyed watching and listening to everyone in court. I enjoyed the trip and learning about how this were different in the past.
I really enjoyed everyone in court because it improved your drama and was funny to see everybody in the outfits in the court but the dungeons learnt is what it was like then

My role was a member of the jury we discussed the evidence that had been given to us. The outcome was that we found Isabella Makin guilty of theft.
