How do you calculate area and perimeter?

To calculate area you must multiply the length of the shape by the width, for example, if you had a rectangle which was 7cm by 9cm you would do 7×9=63cm squared.
To work out the perimeter of a shape you must add the length of each side together. So for the same rectangle as before (7cm by 9cm) you would do 9+9+7+7=32cm.
